Eighteen years ago, the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
launched its first Health Information and Technology (HIT) Week. Since then, our message of awareness and pride has spread
from coast to coast, educating healthcare professionals and consumers on the importance of the people and practices behind
health information management (HIM).
We’re excited about our upcoming celebration and grateful to the thousands of
facilities joining us in recognizing this vital aspect of care. This year’s event takes place November 4 through 10, and provides
a wonderful opportunity for your involvement. Information management affects every level of healthcare. Your commitment to
accuracy, effectiveness, and privacy yields lasting benefits for our profession.
As in past years, we are partnering
with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) to provide even greater outreach across North America.
With a united theme and unified purpose, we’re assuring the public that information essential to their health rests in the
best hands in the business. In the HIM field, we strive for excellence—and we are glad you are part of it. Together, we will
increase awareness of the HIM profession and make 2007 an exciting year to remember.
